Ideally I’d love either a library like Berlin Woodwinds soloists except solo strings… expression baked in, basically one hundred percent real human performance- it’s not versatile at all, but that’s okay, I have the rest covered.Ī library that reacts more smoothly to cc01 and vibrato modulation so it’s much easier to craft an expressive line. and maybe Spitfire Sacconi Quartet, with an edu discount it is very intriguing and fills a gap (easier to justify the purchase lol) Holding a note will have gradual vibrato but not so much the dynamic swells. Incredibly warm, agile, and realistic, I prefer it for fast, virtuoso playing as opposed to slow, expressive lines. Joshua Bell Violin- love it, still my favorite solo violin, but I haven’t had the best results trying to modulate the dynamics. Very fiddle-like tone and more agile and modern as opposed to romantic and expressive. Taylor Davis violin (cinesamples)- great library but not what I expected it to be. I want a violin library similar to this! So I bought… Vol 1 can be a bit overly pronounced and very “one trick pony” BUT that’s exactly what I want. Tina Guo vol 1 and 2 - almost perfect for slow romantic lines, and the vol 2 is excellent for more arts and a really agile legato. Though sometimes run into phasing in certain ranges though with the cello especially during legato transitions. Cinestrings Solo - probably my favorite “all in one” solo strings out of the ones I own as far as playability and versatility. Can suffer from the “machine gun effect” and the simulated vibrato produces strange resonance spikes, a sort of warbling effect, which is very noticeable to me. Better as a virtuoso quartet than expressive soloists IMO. Cremona Quartet - nice and playable but the timbre and legato is not the best. When using these on a slow, emotive track, if the instruments are exposed the legato transitions stick out like a sore thumb to me. Best Service Emotional Cello/Violin/viola - very good at expressive lines EXCEPT the legato transitions. They’re also pretty distant even with close mics and of course come with the AIR hall sound, for better or for worse. The vibrato slider goes from 0 to 100 at around 1/4 of the way and it’s always jarring to me. Spitfire Solo Strings - great “bread and butter” package, though lacking a bit when you need an exposed, expressive performance. I’ve yet to find the perfect solo cello and solo violin library and I’m looking to get real world experience and possibly user demos for a few that I don’t own. I have the Emotional Cello/viola/violin and while I think they’re great and very useful, the legato transitions leave a LOT to be desired. I’m looking for something very specific here.
